New Biocat website, international benchmark in information on the BioRegion
In 2015, Biocat launched a new website, a tool that brings together all of the body’s initiatives to support research, innovation and business growth, plus the most relevant news from the sector. The new site has become a place to boost visibility and dynamize the public and private stakeholders that make up the BioRegion of Catalonia.
The new website is also a source of information, where foreign companies and organizations can learn about the companies, research groups and bodies, hospitals, universities, administrations and the support structures for knowledge and innovation transfer that make up the ecosystem.
Visits
Over the course 2015, the Biocat website, available in Catalan, Spanish and English, received more than 18,000 visits from over 12,000 unique users. These figures are in addition to the visits received by the specific websites for Biocat projects: the B·Debate website, which saw more than 2,000 visits last year from over 1,500 unique users; and that of Moebio, which got more than 1,000 visits from nearly 900 users.
Likewise the Biocat site published a total of 180 news articles, reports and interviews in 2015, available in all three of the site's languages, and posted 228 agenda notifications.
The organization is also present and very active on social media. Specifically, Biocat has more than 10,000 followers on Twitter, with an account in each of the languages (Catalan, Spanish and English). This figure rises to 12,000 if we include the followers of project-specific accounts like B·Debate and Moebio. Biocat also has a profile on the professional network LinkedIn, with more than 4,000 followers, and on Facebook.
Regarding the media, Biocat's activities generated 660 impacts in 2015 in written, digital, television and radio media outlets, more than twice that of 2014, mainly due to better publication of the B·Debate program.
E-news, the new Biocat newsletter
The launch of the new website coincided with a new monthly e-newsletter (E-news), with two new sections: Start-up Generation, in which businesspeople share their first-hand experience as entrepreneurs, and Bonus, with interesting articles, videos or posts. More than 9,000 people receive the e-newsletter every month.
Biocat also offers a free written and digital press-clipping service for any professionals interested in following information and events in the biotechnology, biomedicine and medical technology sector. Nearly 700 people follow the news in the sector through this service, which works via free subscription through the website.
